Book Recommendations for your Toddler

In case you didn't see it, I posted a poll in my sidebar (to the right).  I hope you'll take a view seconds to vote!  I would really appreciate it!

Lately, the little one (Alivia) and I have been doing a lot of reading.  And I mean A LOT!  10 books in one sitting wouldn't be unheard of in our house and not just once but at least twice a day.  At least!  It's a good thing Alivia has good taste in books or I may have considered this a monotonous task to read the same ol' books over and over again!  Instead, we have such a great time during our reading adventures.  I love to use silly voices and get really animated while I read to her.  I'm pretty certain she appreciates my efforts or I don't think I'd be getting as many smiles, giggles, and requests to read them just one more time!  Reading is such a great opportunity to bond with your children.  As a bonus, they get to learn as well and there is nothing better than that!

Today, I thought I'd share some of Alivia's favorite books with you!  They are in no particular order and most of them are for 2 years and up.

1. Miss Mary Mack
2. The Potty Book for Girls (they have one for boys too)
3. The very Hungry Caterpillar
4. Snuggle Up Sleep Ones
5. Heartprints
6. Night Night Blessings
7. My Big Book of Beginner Books about Me
8. Three Billy Goats Gruff
9. Goodnight Moon

  2. Fun :) The Very Hungry Caterpillar is one of my lil' guy's favorites too. I just cherish story times. Looking back on life I'm sure cuddling up with a good book and my babies will be an all time greatest memory. I love to stop in the middle of a book and ask what do you think will happen. Library card days are big in our house too, all three of my kids have had that special day.

  7. Two of these are favorites with my 2-yr-old girl too, I'll have to check out the rest. You're right, it's important to have quality stuff to read when you read it over and over and over...

  9. Oh I LOVED the Hungry Caterpillar. I read that one to my son for years.
I think reading to your children is one of the best things you can do.
We still do it every single night without fail.

  11. Julianna loves reading time too - Bedtime is a minimum of 5 books- we have to limit her or there would be no bedtime- haha! She loved the hungry caterpillar for weeks! We had to read that over & over & over - she could recite it in her sleep and read it outloud on her own b/c she memorized it. Now, she wants nothing to do with it LOL. I guess she got tired of it! Goodnight moon - one of her favs too! I need to get the potty book - that looks good! Right now I'm too big & uncomfortable to fit into her twin bed with her at night to read so daddy gets to read with her every night- soon enough I'll get my turn back (we alternate nights reading to her)
