This little face.
Just when I think it’s impossible to think about anything else other than how crappy I feel, this little face makes me forget about everything. My runny nose, congestion, achiness, scratchy throat, and exhaustion seems to disappear for the split second that I’ve locked eyes with this little one. That’s it, I’m mesmerized.
Alivia had her Ophthalmologist appointment on Tuesday. This time, however, I was able to prepare her for it. I talked to her about it in advance hoping it would make her more comfortable with taking the eye tests. I had always talked to her in advance before her other appointments but, this time at almost 2 and half years old, she was finally old enough to understand. As I put my makeup on at the bathroom sink her repetitive “no mama, no doctor” soon turned to “doctor check Livi’s eyes” and “doctor make eyes better”! I can’t believe how much she was getting it! And just incase the talk in advance wasn’t enough, I had another trick up my sleeve. This time, Auntie Lola would accompany us to the appointment. I knew Livi would be happy about this. With your image open in Photoshop, right click on your background image to create a duplicate layer. This will prompt a menu to open. From here, choose Duplicate Layer. Let’s name it Sharpen.

This is Alivia on her birthday. This photo was taken back in August. At that time, my only photo editing software was Photoshop Elements and the spot healing brush just wouldn’t cut it for removing these scratches on her face. In Photoshop CS6, however, this picture was no match! Hooray for the Healing Brush! Are you guys familiar with this awesome tool? It allows you to choose a clean spot on the face and sample it somewhere else. A little like cloning. Sort of.
Can you see the differences between the following images? They are pretty subtle so look hard. Give up?

The dodge and burn tool in Photoshop can be used for so many different things such as brightening/defining eyes, which I published a tutorial on HERE, and other stuff like lightening your highlights and darkening your shadows to add more definition to the face.
I can’t believe it’s that time again! That time to post your quarterly favorites for July, August, and September! This is such an incredibly difficult task for me. Fun, but difficult!
