Google Tutorial & Back to School Printable!

Sometimes I take for granted the small resources that I use to make my blogging easier.  It’s only when I get a question from a reader that reminds me I really should share my resources.  So a BIG thank you to Natalie over at Growing up a NJ Wife & Mom for asking how I loaded a .psd file into a Google document.  I already replied to Natalie’s inquiry but thought I’d share with all of you incase you were curious also.

So, as you know, I create a lot of freebies.  Everything from collage templates and printables, to custom made polaroids.  After creating and saving them as .psd files (a file compatible with Photoshop and Photoshop Elements), I have to store them somewhere for all of you guys to be able to download.  I use Google Drive to do this.  In case you are not familiar with this, it is provided to all Gmail account users.   So if you have a Gmail account, you are golden!  You can access Google Drive using the toolbar at the top of your Gmail account page.  Mine happens to look like this:

When you click on Drive, it takes you here where you can upload pretty much any type of file.

Once you upload, you will see the share button.

Once you click the share button, you will be give a choice of the following options.  I choose to change the Private setting (screenshot A) to Anyone with the link (screenshot B).

Once you click save, it will generate a link for you to share with whoever you choose (highlighted in yellow).  For my example, I uploaded a .jpg of the hubby.  Feel free to try out the link…

That’s it folks!  Pretty simple huh?  So far, so good too!  I haven’t experienced any problems with Google Drive yet.  Also, for those that are interested, there is a phone application which you can find here for Droid users and here for IPhone users.  The hubby and I use Drive to hold some of our financial data, online user names and passwords, and shopping list files that we keep private between the two of us.  I like having Drive right at my fingertips in case I need to access a file ASAP.

Okay, so now you know as much as I do!

On a different note, I wanted to share my Back to School Printable/Template which you can find HERE.  It is 8.5 x 11 inches and you can add your child’s photo to it.  It is a .psd file which can be opened in Photoshop and Photoshop Elements.  It has many layers, so you’ll want to find the PLACE PHOTO HERE layer and go to File Place to insert your photo.  Once you’ve added your photo, all you’ll need to do is save it as a .jpg and print out!  This particular list was created for children in Preschool and Kindergarten through early Elementary School.  I thought it would be fun to include their name, grade and teacher’s name to encourage their participation.  They can also bring it to their teacher and let them note any supplies they may be missing.  I hope you find it useful and ENJOY!

(I apologize, but when I inserted this printable, it converted over blurry).  The actual file does NOT look like this.  Aaaah, it’s so frustrating!

Oh, and because I can’t leave you without a picture, I thought you’d like this one!  I like to mix it up every now and then and surprise you with something other than my adorable Alivia.  How cute is this grasshopper?  Of course if it were on me, it wouldn’t be so cute!   That’s just a horse of a different color!

And I almost forgot this one.  This one gives me the heebie jeebies!  Nothing cute about this little sucker!  I just don’t like bugs with hard shells (iccckkkkkk)!  I am, however, linking it up to the following photo challenges!
